Weekend at Wollangarra

February 21, 2006

I just got back from an amazing weekend at Wollangarra! My friend Ross Richards got the job as director there in August last year. Ross was reknowned in the Melbourne mountain biking scene for the “40 percenter” – which means that if he reckoned he had a 40% chance of completing a section of trail without crashing, he’d give it a go. Needless to say, many crashes and much hilarity ensued. Certain members of the local scene miss him very keenly indeed. Anyway, he’s now running this amazing outdoor education centre on the banks of the Macallister River in Victoria’s high country. And last weekend he invited 15 or so close friends to come and play.

It was great fun. I didn’t take my camera, as getting to Woll involves a 20 minute walk followed by a trip over the river on a flying fox, and I was already carrying twice my body weight in bananas. Dave and Tim have sent these photos around, though.

Tim used up quite a lot of memory on his card taking movies, which there was talk of editing together. More on that later.
